Resistant Toilet Trainers
If your child is very resistant to toilet
training here are some simple rules to follow:
- Back off! Do not be a nudge. Gently remind them 2-3 times a day.
Take the pressure off them. When he/she begins to feel as if you do not
care whether they are potty trained or not they will then surprise you .
Most of the time it is a control issue.
- Once they feel as if they are in total control they just might start
using the potty on their own terms.
- Always check with your Pediatrician to make sure that your child is
not constipated or holding on to their "poops" because it hurts to go
potty.
- Occasionally resistive toilet trainers develop some irrational fear in
their little heads. One day when that fear abates they might attempt
the potty thing. Good Luck.
