Update January,2009 |
|
1- "Stomach flu" - Two varieties: Acute onset vomiting
and belly pain begins to lessen after 6 hours. Also: Vomiting and Diarrhea
5 to 7 times a day for 1-3 days.
Please see Questions and Answers tab above for more information.
2-Sore throats and fevers - If these symptoms are associated with
impressive runny nose, and cough, then it is probably viral and has
to run its course over 7 to 10 days. Some kids do have fever
with this. Everyone with it feels lousy for at least 3 days. If the
sore throat is associated with headache, stomach aches and not much
cough or runny nose then consider scheduling an appointment to
rule out a Strep Throat infection. If your child feels sicker after
3 days of illness, make an appointment for evaluation.
3-Bronchiolitis-nasal and chest congestion often fever.
Most severe in children under 3 years old. Click Question and Answer
Tab then Bronchiolitis for more info.

What's Going Around
This section of our web page will keep our patients in Harford County aware of What's going around this week or this time of the year.
We will
update this part of the the website on a regular basis. This will keep our
patients in tune with what specific illnesses we are seeing in our office.
RULES TO LIVE BY: 1. If your
child has a fever greater than 100.5 F then they must stay
home until that fever is gone at least 24 hours without
medication. 2. If your child has vomiting and/or
diarrhea then they must stay home until 24 hours after the
last episode, fever is gone and they are eating a normal
diet. 3. Children with conjunctivitis ("Pink Eye")
must stay home until the redness is gone for 24 hours (some
schools/daycares will accept them if they have been on
medication for 24 hours). 4. In the absence of the
above symptoms, if your child feels sick: can rest without
electronics, isn't eating or drinking well then keep them
home for 24 hours and let them rest. |
